Pacifier Free!

Most of you know that we have been wanting to break Ava of the pacifier for awhile. For several months, she has used it for sleeping only. Even though she had not been waking in the night for a few weeks, we just figured we would bite the bullet when Michael was on vacation. Just in case we had some sleepless nights of crying it out.

Well, I'm happy to report that it was actually pretty easy!! Friday night was the first night without it. It just randomly "disappeared" which may seem mean, but the last thing we needed was her digging in the trash after watching us put her precious pacifier there. She was pretty upset Friday evening and cried for a little over 30 minutes before falling asleep on her own. Saturday night, she fussed for about ten minutes, then we heard her playing her music. At some point, she fell asleep (not crying). And then Sunday night, she didn't cry at all! She didn't cry Monday night either! Who knew??

Naps have been more difficult. I was already having some nap problems before even taking the pacifier. Yesterday she fell asleep on her own after fussing for a couple of minutes. It's naptime right now, and I can hear her in there playing and talking. The main thing is that we are free of the pacifier! Woo hoo! And now, on to the "terrible twos"....

Water Fun

Ah, summertime. There's not much to do in the heat with a toddler except cool off with water! We've had lots of water fun this week. Tuesday we went to a "Watermelon and Water" playgroup. Wednesday night we took the pool over to Mamaw and Papa's house, and Thursday we played in the fountain at the mall! Here are some pics of Ava having fun!
